A political cartoon is a satire that aims to comment on a nation's ruling system, the authorities and their power and policies, to critique the political situations that potentially change the lives of numerous citizens. Behind the apparent humour of this genre, a strong political consciousness operates. A political cartoonist is a corrective agent who carries the basic ambition to bring about sociopolitical change using his art as the voice of conscience of a whole nation. A cartoon does not offer to solve a problem, but rather draws the public's attention to it, contradicts it and creates an argument.
